All the time I reblog funny and silly things, hoping to bring laughter to someone’s life. Every now and then, something touches my heart for a much greater purpose.
The two little girls in the picture above inspire me. One of them is fulfilling a lifelong wish of spending the day as a Disney princess. The other is holding the hand of a girl with a life threatening illness. I know I can’t tell them apart.
My father, Jerry, is running the WDW Half Marathon in January to raise money for Give Kids The World. GKTW provides fantasy vacations to families with children suffering from life threatening or terminal illnesses. They provide lodging, food, and entertainment at no cost to the families.
My dad needs to raise $3000 by December 31, 2013. If I can spread the word to as many people as possible, this is a very attainable goal. It’s been hard so far to get the word out…
I just would like you to reblog, if nothing else. You can spend all the time in the world laughing at silly pictures, but what really matters? Can you imagine your family being in the position of those who need organizations like Give Kids the World? It tears up my heart just thinking about it.
If you can find even a dollar to donate, please head over to www.RunJerryRun.org and click on the support button. It sounds cliche, but every little bit really does help. If you can, also spread the word as much as possible. If my silly post about Jenna Marbles can reach almost 200 notes, how far can this go?
